Albert Hall Museum

The Albert Hall Museum, also known as the Central Museum, is located in Ram Niwas Garden, Jaipur. It is a fine example of Indo-Saracenic architecture, designed by Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob. The museum was opened to the public in 1887 and named in honor of King Edward VII, who was known as Albert Edward when he visited India.

History of Albert Hall Museum

• Foundation and Architecture: The foundation stone of the Albert Hall Museum was laid during the visit of the Prince of Wales, Albert Edward, in 1876. The museum's architecture reflects a mix of Indian, Islamic, and European styles, which was a popular architectural trend during the British colonial period.

• Construction and Opening: The construction of the museum was completed in 1887. Maharaja Ram Singh initially wanted the building to be a town hall, but his successor, Maharaja Madho Singh II, decided it should be a museum for the art of Jaipur and Rajasthan.

• Collection and Exhibits: The museum houses an extensive collection of artifacts, including sculptures, paintings, carpets, ivory, stone, metal art, and pottery. Some notable exhibits include:
